What are the benefits of floating?Floating provides a complete sensory deprivation experience, allowing your muscles and joints to fully relax due to the suspension in the water. The water is set to skin temperature, creating an anti-gravity experience. Without distractions, you can enter a state of meditation, sleep, or deep relaxation. The Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) used in the float increases serotonin and melatonin levels, reduces inflammation, and contributes to a more restful sleep, leaving you feeling relaxed and happier.
-
What should I bring to my float appointment? We recommend floating naked for the best experience, but we have everything you need for your float appointment, including robes, towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Please bring your own flip flops. If you prefer not to wet your hair, you can bring a shower cap, or purchase a swimming cap at the spa. If you are floating with another person and prefer to wear a bathing suit, you are welcome to bring one.
-
What do I need to do to prepare for my float? There are two important things to do (or NOT do) before your float: 1. DO NOT color your hair at least 2 weeks before your float. The espom salts are very expensive and we charge a cleaning and refill fee if hair dye tints the water. We do not want to charge you and we just ask you not to come within 2 weeks of coloring your hair. 2. DO NOT shave any part of your body at least 24 hrs (to be safer we recommend 36 hours) prior to floating. The salts will burn any open pore (or cut) in your skin. We do have liquid bandage for any small cuts.
-
How many float rooms (pods) does the spa have?We have one float room, which we refer to as our float "suite." It can accommodate up to 2 people, so we do offer float appointments for up to 2 people at a time.
-
Is floating safe for children?Yes, floating is safe for children, but there are some considerations. The float room contains a high concentration of Epsom salts, which can irritate the eyes, nose, and mouth. Therefore, children need to remain still and not play in the water. This ability varies from child to child. Additionally, children under the age of 14 must have an adult float with them.
